Curriculum:
A strong and balanced curricula features good literature, the development of secure computational and problem-solving skills, along with creative writing. These, blended with science, social studies, and other language arts activities, are at the heart of the cognitive domain of the curriculum.
Faculty:
Community School has been known for its outstanding educators. The teachers not only care for and about the children, but they are talented educators who know how to motivate children to be the best they can be. Currently there are 45 full-time teachers with an average of 9 years of teaching experience at Community. Forty-four percent have advanced degrees. Community School offers teachers the opportunity to grow professionally. Funds are available for college courses, summer grants workshops, seminars and conferences. Community School teachers receive top honors including the Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program for study in Japan, Emerson Electric Excellence in Teaching Award/ISSL Teacher of Distinction Award and Audubon Society fellowship.

Student Achievement:
Students in Grades 2 through 6 take the Educational Records Bureau Test (ERBs) each spring. ERBs measure a child's verbal and quantitative skills. Results are compared with national, suburban, and other independent school norms. Community School students generally score at or above independent school norms. Last year, Community School class averages were above independent school norms in over 95% of skill areas tested.
Secondary School Placement:
Graduates of Community School attend John Burroughs School, Mary Institute & St. Louis Country Day School, Whitfield, St. Louis Priory, Villa Duchesne, Visitation Academy, Thomas Jefferson, Chaminade, Westminster Christian Academy, and other area secondary schools.
Library:
The individual classroom libraries and Discovery Center combined have more than 25,000 volumes.
Technology:
Community School has over 100 computers. Wireless laptops are available for use by all grades. In addition, each classroom has at least two Macintosh computers. A high speed wireless network exists throughout the school. Electronic whiteboards and projectors are used in the Upper Division to create interactive computer-based lessons.
